Hi Patrice and others,

Bonjour depuis l'Angleterre. Désolé de vous écrire en anglais. Merci de me dire si vous souhaitez que je traduise mon message en entier.

I have previously introduced myself to Patrice, but will briefly introduce myself below to others on this forum. Also, I will update Patrice on some progress.

I am a barrister in England afflicted with an interest in issues relating to "UFOs". I have assisted with making about 80 sets of UFO periodicals/newsletters freely available online, plus official documentation and other material.   I've previously helped make available online in a searchable PDF format official UFO documents from the FBI, from Canada (with the permission of the Canadian government), Australia (with the permission of the Australian government), Britain and New Zealand.  I've also helped make freely available online in a searchable PDF format quite a few out-of-print UFO publications after getting relevant permissions (such as the newsletters of prominent UFO skeptic Phil Klass, John Schuessler's UFO Potpourri newsletters, several newsletters of Rick Hilberg, "Saucer Scoop" - plus over eighty other sets of UFO periodicals after getting necessary permissions). Here are a few links to samples of my previous items online:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread924183/pg1
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread730972/pg1
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread736264/pg1

I have previously focused on UFO material from the USA and United Kingdom, in the English language (a bias which results, quite simply, from the fact that English is the only language in which I am fluent...). However, I do not want to overlook the UFO material which can be found in other languages.

For example, during the last few weeks, I have worked with the AFU in Sweden and several local researchers/groups to many of the main German UFO newsletters/magazines and Spanish UFO newsletters/magazines online (after getting relevant permissions).  Last week, I started similar sections for publications from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela and some other countries (after getting relevant permissions). See, for example, the new sections at:

http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/Germany/
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/Spain%20and%20Catalonia/
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/Argentina/
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/Chile/

In the last few days, I have started on French publications.

I have obtained permission from Yves Bosson for his permission to upload scans of Anomalies. With thanks to Pierre Lagrange for providing scans of "Anomalies", these are now online at:

http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/France/Anomalies/

I have also obtained permission from Ybes Bosson to upload some other publications (e.g. Ovni Presence) so will be uploading this in the next few days.

Also, I also received permission over the weekend from Bernard Hugues of CERPA Marseille to upload scans of Univers Ovni, AMA, l'Echo du Cerpa and Info CERPA . I have received some scans of these publications from SCEAU and others, so will be uploading these publications during the next week or so.  Indeed, I uploaded Info CERPA yesterday (since this was the easiest to deal with):

http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/France/Info%20CERPA%20(CERPA)/

In case it helps you get cooperation for your own scanning projects, I'll just mention that the following individuals within the UFO community have now kindly endorsed the following brief statement that I drafted to help obtain further cooperation/permissions for further scanning of UFO materials : Jenny Randles, Kevin Randle, Dr Hal Puthoff, Dr Eric Davis, Dr Kit Green, Jim Semivan (of TTSA), Dr Norm Kahn (of TTSA), Bruce Maccabee, Rick Hilberg, Jan Aldrich, Barry Greenwood, Mark Rodeghier (of CUFOS), Frank Warren, Tim Printy, Jim Oberg, Robert Sheaffer, Lance Moody, Chris Rutkowski, Christopher O'Brien, Edoardo Russo (of Italy's CISU), Dick Haines (of NARCAP), John Schuessler (of MUFON), James Carrion (formerly of MUFON), Tony Eccles (of BUFORA), Dr David Clarke, Paul Dean, Keith Basterfield, Mark Allin (co-owner of AboveTopSecret.com), Jacques Scornaux (of France's SCEAU-Archives OVNI) and Mikhail Gershtein of Russia:

[BEGIN QUOTE OF RELEVANT STATEMENT]
"We consider that making source materials about reports of 'UFOs' (including official documents, periodicals and relevant audio recordings) easily and freely available online is likely to contribute to the study of relevant physical, historical, psychological and sociological issues. If you are able to help with digitisation projects such as the one being conducted by the AFU in Sweden, we would appreciate you doing so".
[END QUOTE OF RELEVANT STATEMENT]

I would, of course, be delighted to work with Patrice and others here to push forward the digitisation and uploading (with permissions...) of more French UFO newsletters/magazines - with other French researchers and help from other countries (particularly the AFU in Sweden and the extensive archives of Barry Greenwood in the USA).

All the best,

Isaac

Dear Isaac,

It is a great honor for me and certainly for all those who are in this forum to receive you here.

Your work is totally in sync with what I want, namely scanning and sharing UFO documents from wherever they come.

Unfortunately, I cannot distribute some documents directly because I don't have the permissions.

I obtained agreements in principle from different authors who agreed to see their work put online, for example the magazine "l'insolite" from Mâcon (12 numbers) but the standard letter that was to be sent to me by the SCEAU secretary never reached me. (because the work I was doing was for SCEAU and not for me as a person).

Isaac, I am ready to send you directly, as I have already done, all my past, present and future backups: magazines, press articles, letters from Ufologists, audio recordings that you would like to have and that I indicate on this forum.

Thank you a lot,

https://ovni-partage.forumactif.com

Thanks Patrice. I look forward to working with you.

I plan on spending quite a bit of time on French scans this week...

Understood.  I may be able to help with obtaining permissions.  Smile

Well, for me (and the AFU) the permission does not have to be in a specific letter or specific form. I just need permission - which can:

(a) simply be an email to you or me saying "I give permission for scans of my magazine to be made available online" or words to that effect (there is not magic to the exact words used, as long as permission is given), or

(b) just you telling me that you have spoken to the person behind a magazine (and tell me his name) and that he has given permission for his magazine/newsletter to be made available online.

Isaac, I am ready to send you directly, as I have already done, all my past, present and future backups: magazines, press articles, letters from Ufologists, audio recordings that you would like to have and that I indicate on this forum.

Thanks. I have also received some scans from Pierre Lagrange and am starting to get scans from SCEAU - so I hope to help get quite a lot of French material online in the next few weeks (with gaps hopefully filled by the AFU, Barry Greenwood and others).

I must now make an embarassing confession : I have somehow lost at least one of the batches of PDFs you very kindly sent to me via Wetransfer in February. I am very sorry and simply do not understand what happened to some of those PDFs.

I am at least as irritated by this loss and you must be... Mad

Anyway, I am afraid that I think the only way forward is to impose on you to resend your PDFs.  I promise to be more careful with them this time!

Thank you a lot

No, thank _you_. Smile

Hello Issac

I find the email of co, firmation and send you this for the availability of the magazine Insolite de Macon.

Give me a private mailing address, I write what I have and I send. Do not apologize, I also lose documents. The key is to be able to get them.

Hi Patrice,

While we are sorting out the CD, perhaps you could just send me by Wetransfer the set of 12 PDFs of "l'insolite" you mentioned and the name of the person that has given permission for them to be uploaded.

I can then put those issues online this weekend.

(In my experience, each publication I upload from a country makes it easier to get more scans/permissions from that country. Smile ).

I'd like to keep up the momentum.

Onwards and upwards.

"Univers Ovni" (France, 1996-1997) is now online - with thanks to Bernard Bernard of CERPA for granting me permission to upload this publication and to Gilles Durand of SCEAU for scans of issues 1 and 2 (which I understand is a complete set).

(I can't post links for another few days, but it is on the AFU's website in the same folder as the Anomalies PDFs I mentioned above).

Hi Patrice/all,

The CDs have arrived. Smile

Since you already have obtained permission to upload L'Insolite, I've dealt with that publication first. Searchable scans of it are now at:
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/France/Insolite%20(Macon)/

I'll post about these scans (giving you credit, of course...) on Facebook and elsewhere, and then move on to other French publications.

"Ovni Presence" (Switzerland/French) - Scans of issues 18 to 54 of "Ovni Presence" are now on the website of the AFU in Sweden at the link below, with thanks to Yves Bosson for his permission and to the AFU, Pierre Lagrange and Patrice Seray for providing scans, and also to Bruno Mancusi for his help liaising with Yves Bosson.

"Approche" (France, 1970s-1980) : Issues 1 to 22 of "Approche", the publication of the French UFO group SVEPS ("Societe Varoise d-Etude des Phenomenes Spatiaux"), are now online.
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/France/Approche/

I think this may be a complete set.

My thanks to Patrice Seray for his scans, and to Frantz Crebely of SVEPS for his permission (plus Edoardo Russo and Jerome Beau for their help liaising with Frantz Crebely).

At least one more French publication should follow later today, time permitting.

Doing scans may be "easy", but it is very boring - so I'm glad you have done so many. Anyway, working together we can get more online. Smile

"AESV" (France, 1970s-1981) - Yves Bosson has kindly given permission for "AESV" to be shared online (with thanks to Bruno Mancusi liaising with him about my permission request).

The AFU has scanned the issues of AESV in its archives, i.e. issues 6 to 17.

Searchable copies of those scans are at the link below.

I'm hoping that one of our French friends has (or can produce) scans of the missing issues (i.e. 1 to 5), which I will then add to the same link.

I am currently discussing with a director of UFO review to obtain his authorization to put on line of his magazine. If he agrees I attack the scans in stride.

"Frontieres de la Science" (France, 1970s) : Patrice Seray has kindly given permission for issues of this publication to be shared online. He has also provided scans of issues 1 and 4. I'll try to fill in the gaps via some French colleagues.

"Ouranos" PDFs : I have tracked down Pierre Delval this week and obtained his permission yesterday to upload "Ouranos" (with thanks to Marc Huber and Donald Cyr of Quebec for their help liaising with Pierre Delval).

I have uploaded an incomplete set of scans of Ouranos to the link below.
http://files.afu.se/Downloads/Magazines/France/Ouranos/

These scans were helpfully provided by Patrice Seray, Pierre Lagrange and Barry Greenwood.

Gilles Durand of SCEAU has mentioned to me (via Bruno Mancusi) that Ouranos has been "almost entirely" scanned by SCEAU, so I hope those scans can be shared and added to the existing incomplete collection in the near future.

The issues of "Ouranos" uploaded so far in the last 24 hours are:
Ouranos - no 01 - 1952 06
Ouranos - no 02 - 1952 10
Ouranos - no 03 - 1953 01
Ouranos - no 04 - 1953 04
Ouranos - no 05 - 1953 07
Ouranos - no 06
Ouranos - no 07 - 1954 04
Ouranos - no 24 - 1959
Ouranos - no 25 - 1960
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 01 - 1974
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 06
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 07
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 08
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 09 - 1973 4e trim
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 10 - 1974 1er trim
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 11 - 1974 2eme tri
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 15 - 1975 4eme trim
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 16 - 1976 1er trimestre
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 18 - 1977
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 22 - 1978
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 23 - 1978
Ouranos - Nouvelle Serie - no 24 - 1978 3eme trimestre
Ouranos Actualites - No 1 - 1953
Ouranos Actualites - No 4 - 1954

Pierre Delval has asked me to mention that "the OURANOS commission of inquiry and studies was the first of its kind, created in 1951 and I was a survey member in 1954". Pierre is now 81 years old and in good health, but no longer involved in ufology.
